Measuring 8.5 m x 25 m, this masonry unit provides excellent insulation and convenient natural ventilation. Artificial lighting can be programmed as required, with intensity of 10 lux.

  There are 2 blocks of 20 m long stair-stepped (California type) cages. In total there are 320 cages, 50 x 46 cm, suitable for 5 hens each; that means a total capacity of 1200 layers. This complies with the relevant European Union regulations on Animal Welfare.

  Each cage is equipped with 2 nipple drinkers and a 10 cm feeder. Droppings are collected in a pit underneath the cages and then removed on a monthly basis.

 In addition, there is a hall, an eggs grading room and a refrigerated egg storage room.
